The Emerald City is inmiddels afgerond in losse comics. De bundeling zal in maart verschijnen.

Weet iemand waarom de verhalen in steeds minder comics worden uitgegeven?

2 The Marvelous Land of Oz (8 comics)

3 Ozma of Oz (8 comics)

4 Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz (8 comics)

5 Road to Oz (6 comics)

6 The Emerald City of Oz (5 comics)

 

Ik heb gezocht naar een antwoord maar ik kan helaas geen commentaar vinden van de tekenaar en/of scenarist. Misschien heeft een van jullie via een of andere comics gerelateerde site iets vernomen?

I’m adapting the Oz books by L. Frank Baum to the comics medium. Skottie Young is the artist for these books and Jean-Francois Beaulieu is the colorist. We’re currently working on the sixth Oz book, 'The Emerald City of Oz'. These adaptations are very close to the original material. The only changes I make to the stories is to incorporate, when appropriate and useful, other versions by Baum, such as stage scripts and introductions for excerpts. For the earlier books, we didn’t leave anything out, but the publisher has cut our page count, so, particularly for the latest book, we’re having to condense. I’ve been a professional cartoonist for nearly three decades and I’ve loved the Oz books since I was six years old, so I bring a deep knowledge of both the comics medium and Oz to these adaptations. In addition to Skottie Young’s vital new vision of Oz, which many readers seem to love overwhelmingly, I think this strength gives this series of books the power to last.

Oz is fantastisch! Deze stripreeks zeker....maar ik heb veel meer Oz verstrippingen en variaties. De originele Baum verhalen zijn redelijk goedkoop te krijgen in een omnibus. De vervolgen daarop gaan tot net in de 40 ergens (officieel) en moeten ook niet onverdienstelijk zijn....moet er nog eens achteraan.

Ook de boeken van Maguire (waar die musical op gebaseerd is) zijn aan te bevelen.

En natuurlijk is de Europese Rozebottel en Duifje Vleugelslag van Dany ook verplichte kost daar het toch erg veel weg heeft van Oz.

 

Dat verhaal heeft gewoon wat.

Adventures in Oz is a collection of five graphic novels by Eric Shanower set in the Land of Oz. They were originally published separately from 1986 to 1992. The first four, The Enchanted Apples of Oz (1986), The Secret Island of Oz (1986), The Ice King of Oz (1987), and The Forgotten Forest of Oz (1988) were published by First Comics. The fifth, The Blue Witch of Oz, was published by Dark Horse Comics in 1992. The hardcover edition contained an extensive appendix by Shanower about his Oz comic work, including previously unseen artwork and comics, as well as alternate endings to some stories.[1]

The five volumes were collected, revised, and published in an omnibus edition by IDW Publishing in 2006.[2] Recently, the collection has been split into two pocket-size volumes called Little Adventures in Oz.[3]

helemaal mee eens. als kind was ik al grrot fan van de tekenfilmreeks. Echt erg goed gedaan met héél veel erg ingenieuze humor. Ik heb de bootmlegs hier liggen en heb alles met veel plezier een paar geleden herbekeken.

Toen ik zag dat Skottie Young Rocket Raccoon begon te tekenen (en de slechte verkoop van de losse comics indachtig) wist ik hoe laat het was... 

Zeer spijtig.  (ook spijtig dat ze enkel kijken naar de verkoop van de comics, zoiets zou gewoon rechtstreeks als een graphic novel moeten worden uitgebracht)

Inderdaad. geen losse comics voor dit maar dadelijk de uitvoering die het verdient: die mooie hc's.

enfin: we kijken vooruit. Ik laat nog wel weten wat ik van 'adventures in oz' vond.
