Kool Thing
When I read about composition it looks like it is a thing of antique greek buildings or to do things more beautiful. But it is a tool, actually. A very powerful one, in storytelling; Both in comics or movies. Here it is an example how I use it sometimes. The scene is about a 14 years old boy taking his own decisions and risks, and they parents being not very conformable with it and trying to put some pressure on him. So I tried this: The boy is the main character of the sequence, but He is also 14 and he confident and the center of ( his ) world. So first of all I put him in the center of the frame. ( close eyed helped me in that no very wise kind of confidence ). Then I wanted the parents and sisters around him useless around him, so I used a fibonacci composition – witch is very hard to sue but when it works is like magic -. The the fugue lines drives us to the father's left, eye, because is the first to speak and...I could put the fugue lines behind the boy, but I wanted something different here. Instead, I used a – grilled- window in the head of the boy, to show hi is open minded, he wants to look out the world. ( then the tree in the right helps me to close the image and put the family symbol again. It's all about family, here ) finally, I tried to not break to much the 1/3 rule; I have it always in mid. That would be all. It is not maybe the best image n the book, not the most spectacular. But I truly believe in this kind of work to tell deeply the story to the reader. I do not work like this every image of the book, obviously, it is just to the ones that speak about the cor of the story. It's pretty much for to keep connected to it. Thank you for reading!
